1Dr. Kathleen Nelson is a pediatrician and served as the associate dean for Leadership and Wellness for the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine where she is also a clinical professor of pediatrics. Dr. Nelson’s publications and research focus on professional development and leadership for faculty and medical professionals. In her role as dean, she is responsible for expanding faculty development opportunities at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and the Saban Research Institute. Dr. Nelson is also chair of the council of Academic Societies (CAS) of the Association of American Medical Colleges. She is also a member of the AAMC board of directors.

Previously, she has also served as president of the Academic Pediatric Association, member of the National Advisory Committee of the Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars Program and member of the governing board of the Global Health Education Consortium.
