Thomas J. Pernice is President and founder of Modena Holding Corporation where he provides executive level counsel to business leaders and global companies. Founded in 1999, MHC specializes in advocacy strategies that drive business growth and provide solutions to complex communications issues for private and public companies.
An entrepreneur and financier of many successful business enterprises, Mr. Pernice most recently co-founded and Chaired Gibraltar Associates, LLC, ranked one of the top 60 independently owned PR firms in the country. Under his leadership, Gibraltar Associates grew from a two-person start up in 2007 to being named to the “Inc. 500/5000 Fastest-Growing Private Companies in America” in 2012. The firm was merged in 2013, and subsequently sold to Wiley Rein, LLP in Washington, DC in 2014.
Mr. Pernice boasts more than 30 years of executive experience in both the private sector and in executive branch of the federal government. For eight years he served as a Corporate Officer and Vice President of Public Affairs for Dole Food Company, Inc. and Castle & Cooke Real Estate Company. Mr. Pernice has also served as a senior Presidential appointee in three White House administrations; first under President Ronald Reagan and then under President George H.W. Bush. Under President George W. Bush, he was appointed Senior Policy Advisor and Executive Director of the Secretary of Energy Advisory Board (“SEAB”), the highest level external advisory board at the U.S. Department of Energy, under Secretary Spencer Abraham. Mr. Pernice is also a partner with former Secretary Abraham in the Bond Companies Sustainability Fund, an international real estate development fund dedicated to green building and green building technologies in partnership with Goldman Sachs. In 2015, Mr. Pernice was appointed to the Board of Advisors of the USC Annenberg School of Communications and Journalism -Third Space Initiative.
