Mauricio Mota

Mauricio is one the founders of The Alchemists, Entertainment Group responsible for building original transmedia narratives and content for studios, publishing companies, fans and brands. Some of their clients include Coca-Cola, Petrobras, TV Globo, CW, Elle Magazine, NFL, Nextel and the Brazilian Ministry of Education. He was responsible for bringing the concept of transmedia storytelling and leading innovators in the field to Brazil and implement the Transmedia Communication Department for Globo Television (4th network in the world). Before founding The Alchemists, was involved in convergence, innovation and content projects for client brands, TV and movie studios.

Maurício also is a co-founder of Wise Entertainment, the production company behind the Emmy Nominated teen drama East Los High. The show, now entering its third season on Hulu, is the first English language show with an all Latino cast, and the Los Angeles Times has touted it as a “TV unicorn in the broadcast marketplace.”

Mauricio began his career as an entrepreneur at the age of 15, when he developed a story-creation platform with writer Sonia Rodrigues. Used in over 4000 schools, it was licensed 8 times and used as a tool to facilitate innovation and creativity for
many top 500 companies and the UN.

Most recently, in collaboration with the Brazilian government, he created the “School of Series,” a TV series development lab designed after the East Los High model that will shape the next generation of showrunners and content creators in the country. ABC has signed a first look deal with Mauricio for the 30 series that will come out of the lab.
